Salir

Salir de Matos is a small village in Portugal where this project was developed. On a piece of land near a stream, a mark was delineated in the territory, a circular space defined by the dimensions of a body. A human trace produced according to ancient techniques of earthen architecture from southern Portugal and northern Africa. Attached to this territorial demarcation, a small edible garden would be developed; the techniques were also ancient and were shared by one of the villagers, Laurinda. The Salir announces an ephemeral presence, projecting itself as a sketch of the extension of the human body in a natural clod. A space in constant transformation, affected by the passing of the seasons, by weather conditions, and by someone. This project preserves memory in a book, a document that keeps records of the project process.
