Plastic Scans stands out as a striking commentary on contemporary waste culture. This project focuses on plastics collected at the project Três Horas de Peneira, where various types of plastics that washed from the ocean were gathered for examination and artistic reinterpretation.
Plastic Scans features two series of work: The Blue Series and The White Series. Each piece of plastic is scanned in high resolution, capturing details that often go unnoticed in everyday life. The resulting digital images evoke the haunting aesthetic of cosmic garbage, drawing parallels between terrestrial and aquatic waste and the cosmos.
These scans not only highlight the environmental impact of plastic pollution but also transform discarded materials into thought-provoking works of art. By presenting these plastics in a new light, the project encourages viewers to reflect on our relationship with consumption and waste, sparking a broader conversation about sustainability and the future of our planet.
